Material Eligible to Recycle How to Prepare Product for Recycling
Newspapers,cardboard, brown grocery bagsmagazines and mixed paper are accepted. Junk mail, cereal boxes, box board, glossy paper and envelopes are also accepted.Do NOT include paper toweling, tissue paper or waxed paper. Tie into bundles or place papers in brown paper grocery bags or boxes.
Plastics all plastics with a number 1-7 are accepted.  Look for the recycle symbol on the bottom of the container.  Do NOT inlcude styrofoam, plastic film or bags. Remove caps and lids, rinse to clean and flatten to save space.
Glass bottles and jars are recyclable.  Do NOT include light bulbs, dishes or ceramics, window glass or mirrors Rinse containers clean. There is no need to remove the labels.
Tin Cans/ aluminum are recycable. Be sure aerosol cans are completely empty. Rinse containers clean and save space by cutting out the ends of the container and flattening.

Town of Leon Recycling Hours

Wednesday: 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m.

Saturday: 8:00a.m. – 12:00p.m.

You must be a Town resident and show your Town of leon window decal for access to the Town Trash/Recycling Center – see attendant for a decal.

Metal Dumpster: Scrap metal ONLY, large items can be left by dumpster.  NO ELECTRONICS

Tires:  Tire are collected ONLY on specified collection dates, generally timed with the Monroe County Solid Waste collection in April and October.  Watch for notices of dates for Tire Collection.  Fees will be charged based on tire size.

Large items like couches, chairs, mattresses and carpet will ONLY be collected in April and October in a large, open dumpster.  Watch for notices of dates.  The rest of the year these items need to be taken to:  Modern Disposal System at:  200 Hemstock Drive, Monday – Friday   608-269-2789 - call for pricing.

We do not accept any ELECTRONICS.  Electronics go to Solid Waste Management  608-269-8783 - call for fees and times

We do not accept any building materials, demolition materials, concrete, bricks, brush or grass clippings. These items need to be taken to:  Modern Disposal System at:  200 Hemstock Drive, Monday – Friday   608-269-2789 - call for pricing.

We do not accept hazardous waste such as lawn chemicals, household cleaners, insect sprays, paints, medications, compact fluorescent bulbs, waste oil and oil filters, antifreeze, rechargeable batteries, helium and LP tanks, lithium and button batteries, etc. Monroe County Solid Waste Management will accept these items -  Contact them at 608-269-8783 for fees and times..
